Rails in Russia

Dmitry V. Sabanin reports that there is a lot of Rails buzz going on in Russia. So, he took it upon himself to translate my ONLamp.com article, What is Ruby on Rails, into Russian.

    Yes, I know that i18n is has been a problem for Ruby.

    Have you tried the Globalize plugin for Rails? I’d be interested in hearing from anyone has used it.

    Globalize plugin is good. I will say more about it after I finish one my i18n project.

    But I think Matz and other core ruby developers have to fix unicode support asap. Python has better support, PHP6 will have internal unicode support and, as you know, Java and *.NET have internal (and great) unicode support.

    Actually, I’m thinking about taking this subject (unicode in ruby) as my bachelor’s project. But Matz will do it better :)
